Granny tax

If anyone is interested in adding their name to the e petition against the granny tax the address is
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/31778
If it reaches 100,000 there should be a debate in The House of Commons.

My Plant

Although the picture of the plant is very similar to mine, the leaves look too strong.  I have found a plant on the internet which I think is the same. NANDINA DOMESTICA (Firepower).

Thanks Joan, I shall definitely look out for this plant at the nursery as it is so colourful all year round.

Plant Help!

Re Eileen's request  for help to recognise and name  the small shrub  she pictured in the Kinara Times, we too have the same shrub in our garden which we found neglected and stuck in a corner when we moved into our bungalow.   Not knowing what it was we replanted it in a pot where it doubled in size and has been until last Autum when we decided to prune it and put it back in the garden.   When we read Eileen's plea, and after we had enjoyed a pleasant lunch at the Brookside Garden Centre, we did some research and found that they had two such shrubs in stock - it is called Leucolhoe-walteri - Zeblid.  We enclose a picture of ours which doesn't look quite so colourful  yet but with a name like that we now promise it more respect and `tlc` in the future.

The Heart of Kent Hospice

Many thanks to all who made a donation to 'The Heart of Kent Hospice' in memory of my Dear Late Wife Valerie.
It is a difficult time but kindnesses and generosity help things along.
The total donated was £640 so thanks again for KINARA'S contribution.
Kind Regards
Ron Broughton

Cheese & Wine Evening - with pictures

A very enjoyable cheese and wine social evening was held in the hall last Saturday. The numbers on the night were a little disappointing but some very positive comments were made by those who attended. The wine flowed freely and the ten different cheeses were consumed with gusto. Worthy of particular comment is the Extra Hot Mexicana cheese - this is really hot and if you like that sort of cheese (I think it is delicious) then it can be bought at the deli counter in Sainsburys, but make sure you buy the "Extra Hot Mexicana" rather than just the "Mexicana."
I would like to thank Shirley and Liz for all their hard work in organising the evening and also a big thank you to those who suppported it on the night.
