News article

In light of current news, Jodrell Bank Observatory being named Unesco World Heritage Site, it seems timely to mention that Thelma Pearson (nee Hough) worked there in 1958, alongside four top American scientists. It was the Americans first attempt to send a rocket to the moon.
Jodrell Bank was home to the Lovell telescope, the world's third largest steerable radio telescope and has been at the forefront of astronomical research for decades.
The publicity was tremendous at the time with articles in national and local papers. Thelma was sending confidential messages to Los Angeles and Singapore on the teleprinter, but had been sworn to secrecy.
